Waterfront Amherst Island Wedding
As I mentioned in my S + R engagement blog post, my experience on Amherst Island is pretty minimal. Shooting/attending a wedding on Amherst Island was a whole different experience. Sam told me that she wasn’t quite sure how many people would show up as the wedding was open invitation to island residents and the Amherst Island community. How great is that? That ethos embodies weddings for me. You matter to people. Events like weddings matter to your community. Moments like this matter to the people that helped you grow up and played a role in your journey through life. heart
Sam & Ryan’s wedding was very DIY. Taking place at Ryan’s childhood home on the west shores of Amherst Island, the setting was intimate and personal. They put a lot of thought and effort into the ceremony and reception decorations, and, with help from their family and friends, had the place looking like a stunning, lakeside wedding venue. The generosity of the Amherst Island community and the “mainlanders” in attendance was incredible. Dinner was a potluck and the food was delicious! Family and friend all provided and everyone was happy and full.
Also, sunset was epic and my favourite moment was hanging out by the lake with Sam + Ryan and some close friends as they popped some champagne. Good times.
