Intimate Backyard Wedding // Millbrook, Ontario

Brenda & Mike’s wedding wasn’t quite as planned given COVID restrictions on guests counts. Social distancing was adhered to as the wedding took place after the first wave but before further restrictions were imposed on weddings and other social events. Regardless of the pandemic, there was so much love and support for these two and their family. A lot of my photos focussed on their interactions with their kids, and I truly felt so much love in the moment and as I edited and curated the gallery. The ceremony was incredibly emotional, and the evening entertainment was filled with a lot of tears, laughs, and smiles.

This wedding was particularly special for my wife and I. Brenda has been a close friend for over a decade now. We had a lot of great times together while living in Toronto and she was one of the select few to be there for us as we got married in Jamaica 7 years ago. We had met Mike only once or twice before due distance and very busy lives but we knew that he was great catch and quality human.

I’m an old guy now, so I kind of missed the “photograph our friends’ weddings” level boost at the beginning of my wedding photography career. I love shooting weddings where my wife is a guest and I know at least a handful of people. It makes a great job even better. This was no different. My wife and I were so ecstatic to be there for them, and to spend the day with their family.
