2021 wedding highlights

TL;DR Part 2: COVID happened. Weddings rescheduled. Some weddings happened. They were great. Watch the slideshow below. :)

The TL;DR above was taken from 2020. Remember then? Me neither. It’s been different but the same. Let’s hope 2022 looks slightly different than the last two years. :)

2021 was a great year for my family and myself. It certainly wasn’t without challenges. My summary from the 2020 highlight blog post is eerily similar. A lot of reschedulings to 2022, but some absolutely amazing weddings still happened.

We were able to escape home life for a couple of family getaways within Ontario. I would love to share some of those photos on here at some point in the very near future. We rented a cabin near Perth, ON for Thanksgiving weekend, which was such an incredible way to escape the clutter of life and enjoy the remaining days of Autumn. We also took the kids to Great Wolf Lodge in my hometown of Niagara Falls. They had a blast, and I’m constantly asked when we are going back. :)

I’m just going to quote myself from the 2020 blog post because it’s still relevant to my current vibe (and hilariously encapsulates the zeitgeist of a lot of us grinding along):

About 2/3 of my weddings decided to wait until 2021 (2022) to get hitched. I really hope we see the end of this madness soon. There is hope that things will change, slowly but surely. And I definitely hope that weddings return to “normal” sooner than later. With that said, the intimacy of smaller weddings has been incredible. There is most definitely COVID weirdness and disappointment from public health restrictions, but all of my couples were immensely positive, loving, and supported. It was truly beautiful to see sociality and love continue to flourish when the world was/is kinda going to shit around us. The love and emotion I photographed during 2020 (2021) really stokes my fires to be a part of these wonderful moments in people’s lives as much as possible. Love, life, and good times endure. Parties and touching may be on hold, but they will be back. And we will all be yearning for human connection.

So cheers to all the wonderful couples and families that I had the pleasure of working with this year. And cheers to all the couples and family who chose me, and will choose me, to be there with them in 2022. // Josh

Enjoy the slideshow. :)
