I have always been excited to explore, learn, and experience the world. I’m a naturally curious person, so travel has been a passion of mine since I was a kid. My favourite books as a kid were books about dinosaurs, history, atlases, and National Geographic mags. So I guess it’s no surprise that I have a degree in Geography and spent a good deal of my 20s and 30s traveling when time and money permitted. Photography became my way to get outside and engage with the world in my travels and every day life.
During a career shift, I started to get the introvert courage to turn my camera towards people. I find people endlessly fascinating and really enjoy learning about how similar or different people’s lives are around the world. As I grew more attached to my camera, I developed a love of street and travel photography. And as I got more into photography as a hobby and passion I started following wedding photographers on social media. They styles and photos were much different than the typical wedding photos I was used to seeing. They were filled with emotion, vibrance, and fun. They were unique to the couple and bent the rules of typical portraiture. I was hooked.
Celebrating life well lived with great photos.
Weddings are not just events. They are a celebration of two peoples’ past, present, and future. They become a sort of highlight reel of our lives to that point, and one of the few times all their best people are in one spot to drink, laugh, celebrate, and get all emotional. They are a perfect moment in time for someone like me to get creative with a camera and, if only for a day, share in the stories, histories, and love of relative strangers. It’s always an absolute honour to be invited to a wedding with my camera and I don’t take that honour lightly. I take pride in my job and believe there is massive generational importance in excellent wedding photos. :)
LIFE & LOVE
I share my story with my beautiful wife and two curious and crazy little kids. The best photos I have taken are of them or with them. The best moments of my life have been shared with them. My wife and I have set off on adventures together for over almost two decades, and now we have these two joining us. We lead by example and teach them to live in the moment; find wonder and adventure in their journies; and embrace the vibrance and energy in the people, places, and stories they encounters in the world.
And while my primary job is Dad when we travel I always bring a camera and do my best to capture our best moments so we can relive them for many years to come.
